22  Learning New Algorithms

Laying the foundation for continued growth

Settling In

  • Find others who picked the same algorithm as you and sit together. (We’ll move around later!)
  • Check Slack for recent announcements and other posts

Small Group Discussion

Part 1: Share Findings

  1. (15 minutes) Chat with other people who picked the same algorithm and compare notes.
    • What did you learn about how the algorithm works?
    • What was helpful as you were learning this algorithm? What was difficult or confusing?
    • What questions do you still have about how this algorithm works?

  1. (20 minutes) Move to a new group with people who picked different algorithms.
    • Take turns (about 3-5 minutes each) sharing what you learned about the algorithm. Try to put yourself in the role of a teacher.
    • If you are a listener, take notes and put yourself in the role of a learner.
    • As a group share thoughts on the following: What was helpful as you were learning this algorithm? What was difficult or confusing?

Part 2: Reflection

Spend the remainder of the class period working on Reflection 4.

If you finish early, study for Quiz 3. See our previous activity for resources.
